What Makes a Great Baseball Park

It’s major league baseball season again! And whether we are baseball fans or not, experiencing the thrill of a live baseball game, coupled with the architecture of a particular stadium, you are bound to be in for a great time.

So just what makes a great baseball park? I would argue that it would be the trend of modern culture and technology, coupled with the atmosphere of early 20th century baseball parks. One needs to look no further than Oriole Park at Camden Yards, which opened in 1992, and is the home of the Baltimore Orioles. This stadium is unique in that it blends right into the downtown culture of Baltimore, while still similar in design to many traditional baseball stadiums of the early 1900s. For example, Oriole Park at Camden Yards gets the modern feel of stadiums with its sunroof over the upper deck, arched brick faade, and steel trusses. Oakland Athletics Tickets Mean Outstanding Baseball

Oakland Athletics tickets are not always easy to come by. That’s because baseball fans know that an Oakland Athletics game is going to mean good baseball. Not only is the team known for its impressive number of World Series wins, but also for its history that many like to see in terms of different dynasties.

The Oakland Athletics are part of the Major League and is affiliated with the West Division and the American League. Their home games are played at McAfee Coliseum. They have nine World Series and fifteen American League wins to their name. They are often referred to as the A’s, the Elephants or the White Elephants.

The White Elephants

Old Time Radio Finds New Fans 50 Years on

Turn back the clock a few decades to a time when fresh milk was still delivered to the doorstep’s of the nation in glass bottles, when sliced bread was a recent innovation and when pop-up toasters were the height of sophistication … back to when times were simple …

…there was old-time-radio.

Of course, we call it “old-time-radio” today but back in the 1930s, 40s and 50s, radio was the newest, most popular and powerful medium around. Radio was to the 1930s what the Internet was to the 1990s.

The years between 1959 and 1962 are often referred to as the Golden Age of Radio — and radio programs that were broadcast during that period had significantly more variety than radio programming today.

The shows captured the hearts and imaginations of Americans from coast to coast. It was a time when families would gather ’round the radio in the living room — that “magic box” that had the mysterious
